Nothing can beat a trip to the cinema to see the latest blockbuster come alive before your eyes. The evening is filled with promises of buttery popcorn, Coca-Cola to quench your salt-induced thirst and 3D glasses to absorb you completely in the experience. The trailers roll, and the audience is suddenly transported into a surreal world of action, adventure and romance.

The best gift this year has been given to us by Cork in the form of ‘A Cork Celebration of Christmas.’ It’s in its fourth year running and provides us with a spectacular array of festive fun, music and markets. The award -winning free festival, which last year welcomed over 140,000 visitors, runs from now until December 21st.

Some traditions are worth holding on to, and when it comes to the Live Animal Crib at Dublin’s Mansion House, this is especially true. Established in 1956 by Father Louis Coffey, the dazzling crib has been stealing gasps from families for generations. This year it will go on display from the 8th December to the 24th.
