It’s that time of year again! The Jameson International Film Festival is coming to a cinema screen near you, and this year is shaping up to be one of the most impressive yet.

Since it began in 2003, the festival has rolled out the red carpet for some of tinseltown’s finest stars including Colin Firth, Tilda Swinton, Clive Owen, Kevin Spacey, Ben Affleck and Ireland’s very own, Colin Farrell and Brendan Glesson.
Ireland’s largest film festival is committed to screening a captivating array of films, documentaries and short stories which kicks off on 16th of February. Nearly 130 feature films will be showcased during the lavish 10 day event.
The festival not only debuts major films, but it also pays tribute to budding writers. The screen writing competition, in association with the Irish Film Board, gives writers the opportunity to submit ideas for a feature film. From the 200 entrants, a fortunate five scripts have been shortlisted. Each script is based around the iconic theme, ‘1916’.
Oscar winning extraordinaire, Al Pacino, will be the guest of honour this year. Lending his hand to directing, the Hollywood star has chosen the Jameson International Film Festival for the Irish premiere of his directorial debut. Wilde Salome is a fascinating documentary that explores the profound life of Oscar Wilde and re-interprets his controversial 1891 play, Salome. The film has been described as a ‘story of discovery, passion and above all a story of obsession.’
The festival takes place in Dublin’s city centre cinemas such as The Savoy, Cineworld, Irish Film Institute and Light House Cinema in Smithfield.
