Q-Park are delighted to have made a donation to the Mercy Hospital Foundation of €3,193. This means that the total amount donated from this charitable partnership now totals a huge €69,607 since 2013!

Q-Park have a long-standing relationship with Mercy Hospital and The Mercy Hospital Foundation. Since 2013 Q-Park have provided affordable parking for hospital visitors at the nearby Q-Park St Finbarr’s car park in Cork City Centre. By validating their parking ticket at the machine within the hospital, visitors can park for up to 24hrs for just €8. Q-Park have pledged to donate €1 from every parking validation made, back to The Mercy Cancer Appeal and this is where the large donations come from.

The COVID-19 Pandemic has had a major effect on charities, with many traditional fundraising events being put on hold. Over the years, the donations from Q-Park have supported the Mercy Cancer Appeal and have had an even greater impact during this difficult year. Funds raised through this appeal have helped to purchase state-of-the-art equipment in the fight against cancer and will help to establish the Mercy Cancer CARE Centre in the heart of Cork City. This vital centre will act as a safe haven for cancer patients at the Mercy Hospital where they can receive additional supporter and avail of services such as peer support groups and one-to-one counselling sessions during their cancer journey.

Mercy Hospital University Hospital Foundation CEO, Paschal McCarthy commented on the latest donation, “We are extremely grateful for the ongoing success of our partnership with Q-Park. The funds donated by them over the years have helped to support cancer patients and their families and are continuing to help advance cancer services in Cork. We are especially grateful for the support of Q-Park during this difficult year and we look forward to continuing our partnership in the years ahead.”

Alastair McDonald, Head of Commercial & Operations at Q-Park Ireland commented “We are in awe of the services that the Mercy Hospital Foundation provide for those who are fighting against cancer. We know how difficult it has been for charities to keep bringing in donations during the COVID-19 Pandemic and we are naturally delighted that we have still been able to provide this. We look forward to continuing our partnership with the Mercy Hospital Foundation to support them in the great work that they do.”
