In response to the Climate Crisis, Q-Park have agreed to offset the miles driven by all new Premier Card holders who start parking between September and October. This is the latest effort by Q-Park who strive to support a sustainable future for our city centres.
Q-Park takes its Corporate Social Responsibility seriously and has 5 overreaching objectives, these are:
Q-Park has made a number of environmental changes to their operation, including the installation of more and more electric vehicle charging points as well as replacing all the car park lighting with much more energy efficient LEDs.
In recognition of the climate emergency we all face, Q-Park is going further and has partnered with Clear, the Carbon Offset Company, to offset all the greenhouse gas emissions caused by our Premier Card holders commute into work by car. Clear invests in high quality carbon reduction projects all over the world and is the only company to have achieved QAS-Certification for all its offsets. The QAS is the highest standard available for carbon offsetting and ensures that every tonne of carbon offset is verified and accounted for. Clear goes beyond standard calculations for emissions by including allowances for real world driving and well-to-tank factors. In this instance Q-Park have calculate the average pre-pandemic commuter miles of its customers to be 1277 miles based on Government Statistics and with Q-Park customers driving more luxury vehicles with an average miles per gallon of 40-43, Clear then use this date to calculate how much is needed to offset their mileage.
John Denton, Head of Sales and Marketing commented “Here at Q-Park we are always looking for new ways for us to reduce the effect that both we and our customers have on the planet. We are delighted to be able to offer to offset our new season ticket holders driving as our latest green initiative.”
Bruce Elliott, Director of Clear said “We are delighted that Q-Park are pushing forward with this initiative. The climate emergency is real and happening right now and we implore other businesses to follow Q-Park’s lead in offsetting their customers carbon footprint.”
Q-Park provides this service to all its Premier Card holders without any additional charge and this will be provided for all new Premier Card holders who purchase with a contract start date between the 1st September and the 31st October 2021.
