Since the out break of COVID-19 took hold the way customers transact in-store has changed massively with the use of cash being a major part of the transformation.
Card issuers acted quickly to encourage customers to pay via contactless by increasing the payment limit to €50. Just in the month of April (the first full month of COVID) there was over 7 million contactless payments in the UK and Ireland above the previous limit of €30, and up to the new limit of €50. According to the data, since the new payment limit has been put in place, the average value of contactless transactions has grown from €9.28 to just under €14, while a total of €264 million has been spent on contactless payments above €30. An amazing total of 43% of in-store transactions between €30 and €50 are now contactless according to the report issued by Essential Retail.

- When you approach the barrier hold your contactless card against the reader until the barrier opens and you can enter without taking a ticket!
- At the pedestrian door if there is a secure ticket access door simply hold the card against the reader to open the door.
- When you return to your car, simply drive to the barrier and hold the card against the reader again until the barrier opens. The amount debited from your account is shown on screen and a receipt is printed.
