Created by internationally acclaimed artistic collaborators Peter Walker and David Harper, Time by Luxmuralis is an immersive experience that combines monumental projection art with original musical compositions.
The installation transforms the medieval interior of St Nicholas' Collegiate Church into a moving canvas, with spectacular visuals illuminating its historic stonework, arches and vaulted ceilings.
Visitors are invited to experience a journey through history, science and imagination as light and sound bring the concept of time to life.
Inspired by Einstein's theories of relativity and H.G. Wells' The Time Machine, the installation explores humanity's fascination with time and the universe.
Visitors will encounter swirling galaxies, extraordinary cosmic imagery and intricate clockwork projections as the experience moves between different eras and imagined worlds.
From the mysteries of the cosmos to the development of human civilisation, each sequence combines dramatic visual storytelling with an atmospheric musical soundtrack.
One of the most remarkable features of Time by Luxmuralis is its setting within St Nicholas' Collegiate Church, one of Galway's most historic landmarks.
The church's medieval architecture becomes part of the artwork, with digital projections transforming its walls, columns and ceilings into vivid scenes of colour and movement.
The experience culminates in an impressive finale beneath the church's historic roof, where architecture, music and light combine to create a memorable visual spectacle.
Although Time by Luxmuralis is not a traditional haunted attraction, its themes of history, transformation and the passage of time make it a fitting addition to Galway's Halloween celebrations.
The event takes place during Samhain, the ancient Celtic festival marking the transition from autumn to winter and the beginning of the Celtic New Year.
As part of the Gaillimh Ah-Boo! programme, the installation brings together Galway's rich heritage and contemporary creativity, offering a family-friendly alternative to more traditional Halloween activities.
Time by Luxmuralis runs nightly from 23 to 31 October 2026, with timed evening entry beginning at 6:30pm.
Tickets are available for adults, children and families, with advance booking recommended to secure your preferred date and entry time.
The experience is advertised as family-friendly and accessible, making it suitable for visitors of different ages.
For tickets, session availability and the latest visitor information, visit the official Time by Luxmuralis booking page.
